The Emerald Ballroom at Jack Quinn's Restaurant and Irish Pub hosts not one, but two, big shows this week with Cheryl Wheeler performing on Saturday and Adrienne Young & Little Sadie due in on Wednesday.
Adrienne Young & Little Sadie is a string band that defies audiences to listen without bobbing a head, tapping a toe or bouncing from tap to top to the beat.
Young wrote, co-wrote or helped arrange 11 of the 15 tracks on the new CD, aptly named "The Art of Virtue."
It was inspired by, of all people, Benjamin Franklin and his common sense approach to fixing the social and economic woes of our country's early days.
As much an advocate as an artist , the New Jersey native actively supports the plight of small farmers. She suggests that buying from local growers as often as possible will not only keep food on your table, but on the farmer's, as well. And as she points out, locally grown produce is fresher, doesn't require preservatives, nor does it waste gasoline in being transported cross country.
Tickets for the 8:30 p.m. show are $12/$10 in advance. Jack Quinn's (859) 491-6699, is at 112 E. Fourth St., Covington.
