"You have to plow to the end of the row," the old farmer had said to the young singer. She takes the advice to heart with her debut CD. And when it came time to harvest, she rinsed everything off very well, so that it became nice and clean and clear. Seventeen lovely, old-fashioned country songs are on this album. Bass, drums, and electric guitar are often used, but don't disturb the transparent, acoustic tone. The songs are just as earthy as thetitle would suggest, with a fine dash of good old advice sprinkled in hereand there. The living past, nicely polished, nicely sung.
