Come on out and celebrate Earth Day on the 21st!

Hello to our Tennessee friends! We do hope you’ll join us in celebrating and honoring this miraculous planet we live on, as we remember that we share this world, our Earth, with millions upon millions of other creatures.

We will join in on the celebration at the sixth annual Nashville Earth Day Festival!
The free event takes place Saturday, April 21, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Centennial Park, and Adrienne and the band will put on a show starting at 2:45 for the fine folks attending the festival.

Earth Day is always a very special and exciting day, but what makes this Earth Day even more exciting is the unveiling of the newly-formed Middle Tennessee “Buy Fresh, Buy Local” chapter. In partnership with FoodRoutes Network, local farmers, businesses, markets and advocates intend to bring a fun and recognizable local food marketing campaign to residents of Middle Tennessee, prompting each of us to ask “Where does my food come from?”

Middle Tennessee residents can learn great reasons to buy fresh, locally grown foods by visiting the Local Food and Farming section at the Festival. Festival-goers will also have the opportunity to meet local farmers who are growing and selling healthy, fresh food directly to the public. In addition, kids can get their hands dirty in a kids’ activity area, sponsored by the Franklin Farmers’ Market.
Sponsored by Friends of the Nashville Farmers’ Market, the Local Food and Farming section will feature more than twenty-five booths and two workshop tents where participants can attend short seminars on community gardening, farmers’ markets, raw foods, community supported agriculture and much more.

We'll also be pre-selling copies of Adrienne's new CD "Room To Grow" at the Festival, along with a special promotion for those who buy the new album in advance. Included in this special pre-sale offer will be:
*2 free downloads available immediately from adrienneyoung.com
*Admission to the May 21st ASCAP listening party at the ASCAP building on Music Row in Nashville, featuring fresh fare prepared by loving hands and local soil
*An autographed commemorative poster for the event

You can find more information and a full schedule for the Festival at http://www.nashville.gov/earthday/

Even though we’re celebrating all of this exciting news this weekend, there’s still work to be done in Washington to support local agriculture.

We've made spectacular progress towards our goal over the past week with 10 new co-signers of the Senate State Wildlife Grants Letter: Brown (D-OH), Cantwell (D-WA), Conrad (D-ND), Feingold (D-WI), Hagel (R-NE), Landrieu (D-LA), Nelson (D-FL), Obama (D-IL), Roberts (R-KS) and Smith (R-OR). The Tuesday, April 24 deadline for signatures on the Senate State Wildlife Grants Letter is now just 4 days away! We need your help in convincing Senator Bob Corker (R-TN) that we want our Tennessee voices added to the growing chorus of support for this action. Please call the Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121 and ask to speak to someone in Senator Corker’s office, and tell Senator Corker where you stand!

Let us work together to do our part to preserve the natural beauty that surrounds us every moment!

Thank you for all of your effort and support! See ya at Earth Day!
