Indeed. Al Gore himself would be proud of Young's recent extracurricular endeavors, which include narrating and performing on an educational video about wildlife preservation, as well as hosting local farmers (who will in turn offer free samples of their foodstuffs) prior to her Exit/In gig on Sat., Oct. 14.
The video was produced for The Wildlife Action Plan, a new congressional initiative designed to grow nationwide support for the protection of more than 1,000 threatened species and environmental zones.
Video producer Ron Messina tapped Young to provide narration for the piece, while Young also reworked her song ''Hills and Hollers'' with new lyrics that reference the beauty of specific underdeveloped lands. The video premiered last month at Virginia Governor Tim Kaine's Natural Resources Leadership Summit at Hungry Mother State Park in Marion, Va. The video will soon go into national release to Fish and Wildlife Agencies and various conservation groups and venues.
In other green-friendly news, Adrienne Young and Little Sadie will present ''Good Food For Good People,'' an event that celebrates the art of eating locally grown fare. Beginning at 7 p.m. Sat., Oct. 14, at Exit/In, a complimentary spread of local food and produce will be available, all of it creatively prepared by local chefs. Several farmers will also be on hand to discuss Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs.
