Nashville-based singer-songwriter and Belmont alumna Adrienne Young practices NIA (Neuromuscular Integrative Action), a cardiovascular blend of dance arts, martial arts and the healing arts. As part of the 2009 Humanities Symposium on "Nature and the Human Spirit," Young led a class on NIA on Wednesday after performing a folk concert Tuesday night. An ardent supporter of sustainable agriculture, Young bundled seed packets into the liner notes of her Grammy-nominated first album Plow to the End of the Row (2003). The Art of Virtue (2005) continued her success, and the reception for her newest release, Room to Grow (2007), has been highly enthusiastic.

Here in Virginia, life is as beautiful as it is bountiful and gets better every day.

Adrienne just returned home to Nelson County, Virginia after a crowning return to her Alma Mater, Belmont University, in Nashville, Tennessee.

It was an honor to give a performance for the students of Belmont who were engaging, pure and passionate about the futures that lie ahead and the power in the Now! And the forum on weaving your divine purpose into your vocation was almost as awesome as the NIA class (see caption/picture).
All this was part of the 2009 Humanities Symposium on "Nature and the Human Spirit" at Belmont University last week.

Now it's time to get the fall garden in and buckle down creatively as we will be recording this winter for a new cd arriving in Spring of 2010! Can you imagine?

We are also moving full steam ahead with Backyard Revolution and will be bringing BYR to the Crozet Music Festival on October 3rd. Please stay tuned for details about the 4th BYR following the tremendous success of the Heritage Harvest Festival, Brew Ridge Music Fest, and the Albemarle County Fair.

Adrienne's new radio show will be debuting this month on WTJU and will be a weekly segment called 'Backyard Revolution'.
