9-4-2007 Summer's cooling off a bit, but we've got more HOT GIGS AHEAD!

Greetings dear ones! Sorry to go so long without being in touch, but it’s been a long, hot, very busy and exciting summer for us… and it’s far from over!
First, thanks to everyone who’s come out to see us as we’ve criss-crossed the country and even popped up to visit our Canadian fans once. It’s always a thrill to make new friends and reconnect with old ones. Room To Grow is still going strong – thanks to all of you for making it so – and so is our tour.
First, a reminder about our upcoming E-Town appearance… back in July we flew out to Colorado to join Nick and Helen Forester and KT Tunstal for a fantastic show that will be broadcast the week of September 19-25. It was great fun, and that’s bound to come through on the radio. Check with your public radio station for local broadcast dates and times, or you can download the podcast and listen whenever you want, as often as you want. While we're on the subject of radio, in case you missed the recent profile on NPR's All Things Considered, click here to listen.
This Saturday (September 8) we have the privilege of playing at Farm Aid’s “Homegrown Fair In Union Square!” The farmers start arriving at Manhattan’s South Plaza Union Square at 7:30am and the fair activities start up at 10am. Come on down and enjoy lots of cool food-related activities for kids, urban composting demonstrations, farm-fresh corn on the cob (can you say YUM!?), hourly drawings for tickets to Farm Aid 2007, and, of course, lots of great music. We’re excited to be sharing the stage with The Ebony Hillbillies, Nation Beat, Jimmy Nations Combo, and The Dittybops. Our set is at 1:45pm. Hope to see you there!
Later in September, we’ll be making two stops in Ohio, one in New Jersey, and several in Virginia before heading back to the Big Apple for two – yes, TWO – amazing honors in one day. On the afternoon of October 17 we’ll get to check out a true culinary paradise, the Chelsea Market, which also happens to be the home of the studio where the Food Network’s Emeril Live is taped. And yes, AY&LS will be performing during a live taping of the show! Shawn Colvin was on an episode that was broadcast this week and got to eat lots of Emeril’s cooking before she sang, so we’re keeping our fingers crossed that we might get a little taste too! Not sure exactly when our episode will be on the air, but we’ll alert you as soon as we find out.
Then later that same day we’ll be playing as part of the CMJ Music Marathon & Film Festival. Check the CMJ’s website for a full list of the incredible acts that will be playing all over New York during the festival. Our show is at Satalla, a beautiful and intimate world-music venue that, sadly, will be closing at the end of the year. Over the last four years, owner Michael Yaacobi has welcomed an astonishing list of performers from all points on the globe to Satalla and we’re very proud to have the opportunity to bring our music to their stage. If you haven’t experienced Satalla, by all means do so while you still have the chance. And if you happen to be there on October 17, stick around and say hello to us!
Again, we have been so blessed by the presence of so many of your smiling faces at our shows this summer and we look forward to meeting and pickin’ and singin’ for more of you in the weeks ahead. Be well my friends!
